Cutting Edge Virtual Symposium on Coronaviruses with “Disease X” Potential

US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the UK International Coronavirus Network (UK-ICN), the Biosafety Level 4 Zoonotic Laboratory Network (BSL4ZNet), and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) cordially invite you to take part in this global event.

Our world has changed drastically due to COVID-19. Massive healthcare shortfalls as well as socio-economic disruptions have had and will have lasting impacts. Initial strategies and countermeasures including lockdowns, contact tracing, masks, ventilation, and vaccination mobilised evidence-based research to minimise negative outcomes. Now it is vital we consolidate the lessons learned and look forward to how we manage coronaviruses with “Disease X” potential. Using what we know so far from SARS, MERS, hCoVS, and COVID-19, understanding the evolving human-animal environmental interface, especially for Bat coronaviruses, will be critical to manage future outbreaks. Equally important will be leveraging data science to model and predict outcomes, a better understanding of behavioural contributions, and the development of novel and repurposed medical countermeasures so we are prepared. CSIRO, FDA and UK-ICN are bringing together experts and emerging researchers in the field for a cutting-edge virtual symposium on the 28, 29 & 30th September 2022 (Australia time) as part of the wider BSL4ZNet Annual International Conference 2022. The symposium will consist of six sessions, each followed by a moderated Q&A with the panel speakers and co-chairs. A number of hubs will be set up across Australia to encourage face-to-face interactions. Get your abstracts in by 8th July for consideration by the organising committee.
