There are a range of interesting and engaging volunteer roles. Here are a few different ways in which you can become involved:

Generation STEM

Generation STEM is a 10-year initiative delivered by CSIRO Education and Outreach to attract, support, retain and train NSW students into STEM career pathways. We encourage CSIRO Alumni to share their own STEM stories and get involved.

Switch: CSIRO’s secondment and mobility program
Switch is about improving our connection and engagement with our partner organisations and secondments are one way to do this. Our new program involves embedding our people in partner organisations for a set period of time. It provides the secondment structure to set up a mutually beneficial switch for both CSIRO and our partner.

Mentoring
The research community is a long-term active user of mentoring as a key means to learning, networking and sharing of information between colleagues both within organisations and internationally. There are a range of CSIRO mentoring programmes that alumni can join.

Help CSIRO Publishing – Volunteers to help with publishing and journals
Interested in refereeing manuscripts, becoming an editorial board member, staying up to date with the latest journal content, or subscribing?

STEM Professionals in Schools
Inspire the next generation through STEM Professionals in Schools. We welcome alumni who are keen to share their skills, experience and professional knowledge in their chosen STEM discipline.

SME Connect
Are you an SME or start-up in need of some research and development to fast track your idea or take it to the next level? Our national SME Connect team links Australian small to medium sized businesses with Australia’s the research sector, facilitating and enabling innovation-driven partnerships through funding, support and resources.

ON Program
Our ON programs are tailored to give research teams the skills and confidence they need to translate their solutions into positive economic, environmental and social impact. If you’re working on a big idea or an interesting project and need help taking it to the next level, we can help.

Lindfield Collaboration Hub
Lindfield Collaboration Hub is an innovation incubator with a vision of connecting CSIRO, Universities, SMEs, Start-Ups and the Community. We are keen for alumni to get involved as mentors, workshop presenters and guest speakers.

Northern Sydney Science Hub
The Northern Sydney Science Hub (NSSH) includes member organisations across northern Sydney who are passionate about sharing their science, technology and innovation with the community.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP)
The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), is a scheme that facilitates research placements for undergraduate students across research organisations, industry and universities in Victoria.
