Voyage schedules published for 2022-23 and 2023-24
Release of these schedules was delayed while we worked through impacts from the COVID pandemic and the resolution of several vessel management requirements which had led to the suspension, deferment and cancellation of voyages. All affected voyages have now been rescheduled and included in the forward schedules being released.
The voyage schedules have been developed with some contingency to allow for changes in the COVID situation and have been carefully planned to optimise certainty for our community.
Rescheduling of voyages, in combination with the upcoming mid-life refit of research vessel (RV) Investigator, has resulted in only limited research days remaining in the 2024-25 voyage schedule. As such, applications for the 2024-25 voyage schedule will not be invited through a Primary Call, which was due to be made this year.
MNF will instead schedule highly ranked voyages that were previously endorsed by the MNF Steering Committee but were unable to be accommodated in prior schedules. This is to avoid having the research community put in a significant amount of effort to apply for a small number of available days. We are also conscious that the forward schedule remains at risk due to the ongoing and changing nature of COVID.
Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do at CSIRO. We appreciate the support and patience of our community while we continue to operate in a highly challenging environment.
We look forward to continuing to work closely with our partners, end users and the community in the delivery of excellent marine research to benefit the nation.
