Solving the mysteries of the plant microbiome to develop new crop management strategies, increase crop health and productivity, and help meet increasing global food demands.

Congratulations to microbiome researcher and soil scientist Gupta Vadakattu for being the Soil Science Society of America 2024 Award Recipient for his outstanding contributions to soil science through education, national and international service, and research.

CSIRO are working with the Grains Research and Development Corporation 🌾on field scale solutions to the soil borne fungal 🧫pathogen Rhizoctonia, pictured in canola.

Rhizoctonia is well known to farmers for causing root rot and bare patch disease in a range of cereal crops 🌾 and has been estimated to cause tens of millions of dollars damage to crops per annum.
