Brisbane Yellow Crazy Ant risk goes from low to high in council biosecurity plan

Brisbane City Council has increased its classification of the yellow crazy ant threat from low to high risk as it prepares to implement an eradication program across the city. Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the amendment to the city’s biosecurity plan would allow the council to carry out the program with a $100,000 grant from the Queensland Feral Pest Initiative. A spokeswoman said in 202122 the council engaged CSIRO to create a Yellow Crazy Ant eradication plan for Brisbane.
