Today marks the 75th anniversary of the birth of radio astronomy in Australia – a birth that took place at Collaroy Plateau. […] The Australian physicist chosen was Dr David Martyn and upon his return with information and equipment to help develop the technology in Australia and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (later called the CSIRO) established the Radiophysics Laboratory (RPL) in the grounds of Sydney University, after which some of Australia’s best and brightest joined the team.
