Companion planting to tackle weed control

Companion planting and intercropping is an option that growers can consider to bolster the competitiveness of an otherwise uncompetitive but valuable crop in the rotation. CSIRO farming systems scientist Andrew Fletcher said when two or more species were grown together they could occupy ecological niches that might otherwise be taken up by weeds.
