Right now, most Australians are locked down to protect our vulnerable and those at greater risk of more serious illness from Covid-19. These recurrent lockdowns will continue until we reach a level of immunity where SARS-CoV-2 becomes just another virus that we can manage like flu. […] A national RNA capability represents an opportunity to make good of global challenges, much as we did after the Spanish flu and World War I events that led to nation-building programs including establishing organisations such as CSL and CSIRO.
