CSIRO teams up with AFAC to develop cutting-edge bushfire prediction technology

Under the agreement, the two parties will develop a state-of-the-art bushfire simulation tool based on CSIRO’s Spark’ fire prediction platform, which combines current fire behaviour knowledge with cutting-edge simulation science to produce predictions, simulations and visualisations of bushfire spread in a matter of seconds. Called ‘Spark Operational’, the new technology will enable fire and emergency services agencies across Australia to effectively plan for and respond to fire emergencies in a variety of landscapes and climates.
