Advancing Responsible AI for Australia: IEEE Ethical and Sustainable Standards and Certification

The next webinar in the Responsible AI Network (RAIN) series will focus on the intersection of technology innovation, ethics, and sustainability with the IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organisation dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.

Event Overview:

Since 2015, the IEEE Standards Association has been at the forefront of advocating and developing global standards, principles, and practices of ethical and sustainable artificial intelligence (AI). In this webinar, Australia’s IEEE representative, Ruth Lewis, will introduce you to a range of resources, standards, and a certification program available to organisations of all sizes.

Guest Speaker:

Ruth Lewis, BE (Electrical), Graduate Diploma Digital Communications, Master of Strategic Foresight, EA National Engineering Register.

Ruth is an experienced strategic IT consultant, academically qualified futurist and professional engineer based in Melbourne, Australia, having worked across many industries, sectors and technologies with a particular focus on the innovative and ethical use of technology in business and in society.

Ruth is the Chair of the IEEE Society on Social Implications of Technology (SSIT) Standards Committee, and is a Member of the SSIT Board of Governors. Ruth is the Standards Coordinator for the IEEE SSIT Australia and IEEE Victorian Section, is a Lead Assessor for IEEE’s CertifAIEd™ AI Certification Program, and was an active contributing member of the IEEE 7000TM-2021 Standard Model Process for Addressing Ethical Concerns during System Design. Ruth received the IEEE Standards Association’s 2022 Standards Medallion for leadership in promoting the development of IEEE technology and society standards.
