Standards for the global bioeconomy – a briefing from the international Task Force

August 27 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Experts from Imperial College London present ten recommendations for standards and metrics to accelerate the global bioeconomy.

In this webcast, Professor Paul Freemont presents the findings of the recent report, Engineering Biology Metrics and Technical Standards for the Global Bioeconomy.

Global standards and metrics have the power to accelerate the development and commercialisation of new technologies. But there are currently very few specific and appropriate to the field of engineering biology.

An international Task Force, led by Professor Freemont, was convened to identify key areas where standards and metrics would accelerate the growth of the global bioeconomy.

In this online panel event – moderated by Dr Robert Speight, Director of our Advanced Engineering Biology Future Science Platform – we’ll hear the Task Force’s ten key recommendations. Dialling in from Imperial College London, Professor Freemont – alongside Juliette Malley, Project Manager for the Task Force – will discuss the findings and their implications for engineering biology research and the bioeconomy in Australia and around the world.

From the standardisation of data formats to the improvement of regulatory clarity, the panellists will share how the sector stands to gain from appropriate standards and applied metrology.
