Unlocking Australia’s $27 billion Synthetic Biology opportunity
CSIRO Futures have recently developed Australia’s Synthetic Biology Roadmap outlining priority actions that could help enable new products and biomanufacturing processes, adding value to a range of industries and supporting growth of an economically and environmentally sustainable bioeconomy.
This new report identifies that synthetic biology has the potential to unlock $27 billion in revenue and 44,000 jobs annually for Australia by 2040. This includes $19 billion for food and agriculture and $7 billion for the health and medicine sectors.
This webcast will give stakeholders an opportunity to learn more about the report’s key findings as well as some of the exciting applications that this emerging field of technology can enable.
The session will be presented as a panel discussion with some of Australia’s leading synthetic biology researchers, businesses, and other key stakeholders.
Our three expert panellists include:
- Prof Claudia Vickers, Director of CSIRO’s Synthetic Biology Future Science Platform
- Phil Morle, Partner at Main Sequence Ventures
- Prof Tony Weiss, McCaughey Chair in Biochemistry, University of Sydney and Founder of Elastogen
We encourage you to register before Thursday 19 August to suggest questions to the panellists.
