Henry Nix: A consummate environmentalist and an inspiring academic leader

Henry Nix was an environmentalist with an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Australian landscape and an abiding passion for the conservation of Australia’s unique flora and fauna. After a distinguished career at the CSIRO he served as director of the Centre for Resource and Environmental Studies (CRES) at the Australian National University (now the Fenner School of Environment and Society), from 1986 to 1999.
