Interview with CSIRO research scientist Dr Emma Woodward about the Many Lands, Many Seasons documentary on ABC Me tackling Indigenous calendars that take a different approach to seasons. Woodward, who worked on the CSIRO’s project with First Nations groups, says he’s been working with partners across the country for 15 years to document their seasonal knowledge. She says it’s from the experience of knowledgeable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who look to the environment everyday to look at what’s happening in terms of which plants are flowering, what the clouds are doing, and how much moisture is in the environment to make land and sea management decisions.
