Aussie and German scientists have built a robotic reptile to learn more about how lizards climb. The robot, which has an actuated spine and clawed feet that can interlock with surfaces, varied its speed, foot angles, and range of motion while collecting data on climbed distance, stability, and efficiency, demonstrating a trade-off between speed and stability, and mirroring the behaviour of real lizards.
