A West Australian apple grower says a threatened WA bird is costing his business about $1 million a year in damage to fruit in his orchards. The WA apple and pear, or pome, industry says black cockatoos are causing so much damage the State Government should fund netting to keep the birds out of orchards, avoiding more harmful control measures.
